Almora is a historic municipal town and district headquarters in Uttarakhand, India, perched on a 5-km-long saddle-shaped ridge at an elevation of 1,638 meters. Known as the “Cultural Capital of Kumaon,” it is famed for its panoramic Himalayan views, dense pine forests, ancient temples, and rich Kumaoni heritage.
Jageshwar is a Hindu pilgrimage town near Almora in Almora district of the Himalayan Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is one of the Dhams in the Shaivism tradition. The site is protected under Indian laws, and managed by the Archaeological Survey of India.
Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary is an Indian wildlife sanctuary. Binsar was the summer capital of the Chand Kings, who ruled over Kumaon from the 11th to the 18th centuries AD. The British also used it as a summer capital, and built several estates inside the forest.
